This is the piece I did for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This is
the poem Mattie Stepanek wrote Called Crystal Celebration. This is the
inspiration I painted the piece from.
This is yet another mural I did for Churchland Elementary School above
the chalkboard. The piece is called "Innate Rhythm".
This is another mural I did for Churchland Elementary School on the backdrop
of another mural that highschool kids did. The piece is called "Hawaiian
Girls".
This is a mural I did at Churchland Elementary School on the backdrop of another mural that highschool kids did. The piece is called "Ghanaian Beat".
This is a painting I did for the The Muscular Dystrophy Association. They
have a yearly fundraiser called the Crystal Ball. This years theme was
"A Child's Dream For A Cure". Mattie Stepanek is the child's
face of MDA and one of his poems was the inspiration for my painting. His
words were so sweet and child-like yet so vivid and clear like Hemingway.
So I painted what he told me was there through his spoken-word. I believe
the whole experience to be serendipitous. The title of his poem was called
"Crystal Celebration". I love when things come full-circle.
This is a mural I did for a Pennsylvania native that has a serious love
for dogs. The native has such a love that the middle dog is hers and each
dog you see is her dog's friends. Your friendly neighborhood Dog watch!
This is a graphic I did for A Step In Time Foundation. It was to raise money for soldier's dependants that were left behind due to casualties of war. I thought it was a great idea.because every little bit counts. The stars of the fundraiser concert were Roberta Flack and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
This is a graphic I did for a politcal fundraiser for Senator Mamie Locke.
To paraphrase Micheal Jordan when he was asked to run for Democratic office
"Republicans buy tennis shoes too." The same goes for art. All
people in my opinion are more alike than different no matter the party(ies).
I was just honored to be asked to create their graphic.
This is a graphic I did to advertise for a fundraiser for the tsunami victims.
Our theme was "Think Globally, Act Locally". The American Red
Cross, The Hampton Watch and the Hampton Coliseum came together and other
sponsors followed right in BIG, to raise money for the victims.
This is a mural I did for the Holocaust Museum in Richmond, VA
The Germans did a countless number of testings on the Jewish people during
that horiffic period. In the hospital the Germans had one test where they
would take a jewish person put that person in a German thermal suit and
put them in a tub of ice until they died. They killed these human beings
to find out how they could better their thermal suits for the German soldiers.
My painting is a picture of a German nurse (spy) and a German officer looking
through a hospital window at a victim dying in ice with no remorse for
the lost of life. It was a hard mural for me to paint.
This is a bookcover I did for author Latif Tarik. It's called "Manifesto
Of A Black Man". His book is a personal journal about him finding
the perfect blend of his strict military background with his African Roots
This is a page to show some of my commission works and anything extra I
might want to add... ENJOY!
EXTRAS
In the beginning of the year I did a show (Zora Neale Hurston) in Eatonville,
Florida. CNN was there doing a live broadcast on the history of the show.
Eatonville was the first African-American incorporated city in the United
States. I was interviewed by a Korean television station, KBS Media (Korean
Broadcast Station). The segment is running on Korean Television. I was
so excited about the opportunity!

World! Chivarly is not dead! This is Martin. I met him on my way to the
post office and to the Brixton Gallery to put the rest of my art up. He
offered to carry my box. I declined the offer,
after all I didn't know him. He asked again. I told him no, then I asked
him his name and
told him mine. No sooner I had met an instant friend. He wouldn't take no for
an answer. I let him carry the box. We talked the whole two to three blocks.
By the way that
box was not light, so I really appreciated it. I told him I wasn't from London and he laughed
out loud and said "Oh Yeah!" (my accent). We hit it off right
away. Martin, if you ever check
out my site I just want you to know you made my trip over the pond so much
more enjoyable.
I hope your daughter had a good time in "The States"
Absolutely the greatest gallery showing I have ever, and I mean
ever seen. Made me want to dig
deeper as an artist. For me it made me want to put
consciousness in my art
My first time at the Tate
Museum and I get to see
Frida Kahlo! One of my
favorite artists!
More typical tourist
pictures. What London's Telephones
look like.
The Big Ben at night for those
of you who haven't seen it a
million times! Sorry, I am the
typical tourist!
Maybe a strange picture for
me to put up but the form and color of the car appeals to my "artist
eye"
Not far from the tourist spot is the Queen's castle. It is the biggest
"home" I have ever seen! No wonder her face is on all the money!
LOL!
This is a tourist spot where you can see the London Eye, Big Ben, and the
London Bridge just to name a few
I saw Dali(the impersonator) before I went in!!
I saw a Dali and a Picasso
exhibit next to the London Eye.
These are my favorite punk rockers
ever! I am so painting them when I
get a chance. They were super cool and laid back.
My first serenade. This guy said I
inspired him. He started making lyrics, came up with a rhythm and started
singing a song about me right in my booth! I was charmed and embarrassed
all at the same time...
Entertainment at the Camden Centre. They are performers from an African
dance class.
Someone saw me struggling to take my own picture and took one for me.
Art Admirers...
Me taking a picture of me and my art in the Brixton Gallery!
I was having such a good time I didn't take many
art pictures but here are a few from my voyage!
I had a great time in London and I learned a lot about the difference in
being a business woman in another country. I'll never forget London...
Here are a few pictures of my experience.
